better grab my coat

i ain’t ever gonna see what the night can see i ain’t ever gonna say what you mean to me i watched your tear drops shatter in a letter I wrote i watched a candle freeze and the telephone choke on a November night we said our goodbyes and I saw the suitcase planted in your eyes i bit my tongue cause the traveling you’d already been the leaves blew against my shins, but what’s a cold wind gonna do, i better grab my coat it’s gonna be cold without you when the windows breathe it’s the cold getting through when the midnight screams it screams at you when the snow falls hard it falls for you, when i can’t feel me and i can’t feel you there are things that i’m gonna leave behind cause what ever you save you may one day find

in a box for a shoe but those artifacts of time exist with no reason or rhyme but you do what you gotta do i better grab my coat it’s gonna be cold without you so what now will your mailman bring deadflowers or soap all useless things. i ain’t ever gonna give you that diamond ring. what’s gone is gone.... if it’s your shoes i’m steppin’ on better lose’em and try to keep on a kiss goodbye will do... i better grab my coat it’s gonna be cold without you.
